Embracing imperfection

Friends,

A couple of weeks ago - I sent you an email with a recording of my DJ Set from Benteng Beach Club. It was live, spontaneous, and dotted with errors. However, the sun still rose the next day and I took another step towards embracing imperfection.

I’ve just finished reading Rick Rubin’s ‘The Creative Act.’ He writes about how creativity flows like a river within us. However, the pursuit of perfection can allow blocks to form. To solve this, we need to embrace imperfection and share our creations so we can move on to the next. Our self-worth is not tied to our latest creation. 

This paradigm shift is already helping the river in me absolutely pump 🌊

On that note, here’s a new DJ set

During one of the last sunsets of our month in Bitung, Indonesia - I felt the urge to celebrate with a DJ Set.

No event, no poster, no expected audience. Just the ocean, my brother Eno, a Dutch couple sipping on mojitos, and me.
